Hi, I'm Catherine

After graduating from the USF Master's Program in Asia Pacific Studies, I decided to pick up my camera to record people, things, streets and other common subjects around me.

Photographing people makes me happy; the organic vibe I get from photo shoots is what drives as a photographer and an artist.

Yes, I said “artist.” Because Ansel Adams once said: “You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” For me, photography requires not only skill; a sharp aesthetic sense and decent taste for the arts matters as well.

I am passionate about making honest portraits of unexpected moments. I love the ethereal light that comes late in the afternoon, the buttery glow that has a special texture. I am drawn to moody, slightly pensive portraiture (close your eyes, take a deep breath, relax your face); but if I can make you laugh (or, even better, we can make each other laugh), that is when my shutter clicks the fastest. Creating unobtrusive, genuine images of sweet moments is why I am a photographer.
